HEB PTA Clothes Closet
10/31/2012 Current Needs: We are currently in need of new athletic shoes and new or gently worn jeans to meet these high demand areas. Gift card or cash/check donations are greatly appreciated in any amount.
Overview
The HEB PTA Clothes Closet provides clothing and school supply items to HEB ISD students with a need. The Clothes Closet is a service organization sponsored by the HEB PTA Council and staffed by volunteers.
The Closet resources depend on donations. We do our best to provide for the students, but in order to be successful, we need public support. We strongly encourage everyone to donate new or gently used clothing and school supplies for our kids. All athletic/tennis shoes, socks and underwear must be new for health purposes. The sizes we need vary as we clothe pre-kindergarten through high school students. We typically ask for donations of childrens’ size 4T in male and female up to 5X male and female in adults. At any given time, we may be running low on certain clothing items; if you want to donate to our greatest needs, please contact us directly at 817-399-2559. You may bring the donations directly to us at 1100 Raider Drive, Euless, Texas, 76040 during the hours listed at right.
Donations
The Clothes Closet relies on donations of clothing and money to fill the needs of our students. During the school year, donations can be delivered to the Clothes Closet during the business hours posted to the right. Summer hours will vary. Donations may also be dropped off at your school.
Acceptable clothing should be:
School dress code appropriate
Size appropriate for all students, 4T children to 5X adult
Clean - no stains or bleach spots, etc.
Current styles (clothes your children would wear)
Machine washable (no dry cleaning)
New or gently worn
Obtaining Clothing
The school nurse determines the needs of the students and contacts the Clothes Closet via a request form. Gently used clothing, new shoes, socks and underwear are available for students. To receive clothes, a parent or student should contact the nurse or a teacher at the student's school. Once the student is approved, the school nurse will contact the Closet. ALL FORMS ARE KEPT CONFIDENTIAL! Contact to the family will be made by a Clothes Closet Representative and they will be notified to come and shop for their student(s). Students may receive clothes twice a school year, once prior to the winter break and once after the winter break and will consist of up to five changes of clothes, new socks, underwear, and one pair of new shoes when available.
To receive clothing:
Please contact the school nurse. The nurse is the only person who can submit a request form to the Closet on the student's behalf for clothing needs.
To donate clothing: Please bring donations during normal business hours or contact Melody Davenport via email to make alternative arrangements if necessary.
Become an Adoptor
Many local organizations support the Clothes Closet. Each year, numerous groups donate backpacks and school supplies that the Clothes Closet gives to students throughout the school year.
Volunteer
Volunteers supply the labor needed to sort, wash, fold and hang the clothes. Local unit PTAs send volunteers on a rotating schedule, however more are always needed. All volunteers are welcome during regular operating hours. Youth needing community service hours may also volunteer at the Clothes Closet.
