The Automotive Technology/Collision Edge

In the early 1900s, Henry Ford, the founder of Ford Motor Company, said,
"Any customer can have a car painted any color that he wants so long as it is black.”
The world has changed a lot since then, and today’s auto technology and auto collision students are preparing for a lifetime of innovation in a competitive environment.Natef-logo

The Auto Technology and Auto Collision programs provide the edge students that students need to work in a rapidly changing industry. The programs and the teachers have earned a long list of industry recognition and certifications, including National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF), National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE), Inter-Industry Conference On Auto Collision Repair (I-CAR), and the International Institute for Automotive Service Excellence.

Anyone who has an automobile made in the past 5 years, is driving a vehicle with more computing power than was used to put man on the moon!

Both local media and national auto industry trade publications have interviewed the programs’ teachers and relied on them as experts in their fields. This recognition provides the credibility and the experience that students need to gain acceptance into post-high school education programs or the auto industry. One national magazine made reference to the “top-flight Technical Education Center,” a testament to the quality of the programs available to students.

Students work in an environment that closely mirrors that of the auto/collision industry, with the tools and technology used in today’s top companies, to gain hands-on experience. Students get the chance to show off their abilities at numerous state and national competitions. Students with such awards, combined with their specialized training, have the necessary edge that may lead to a career with leading national and international companies.

Whether preparing for college, further training, or an industry career, the district’s auto/collision programs pave the way for student success.

Automotive

"The number of jobs for automotive service technicians and mechanics is projected to grow faster than average for all occupations over the next decade. Employment growth will create many new jobs, but total job openings will be significantly larger because many skilled technicians are expected to retire and will need to be replaced."
