Those middle years between elementary school and high school are not just a bridge from one age group to another. In HEB ISD, students continue to acquire that “edge” that began in elementary school, by building upon the foundation, flexing those academic muscles, and taking new knowledge with them to high school.

Two HEB junior high schools integrate the Core Knowledge curriculum into core subject areas, and all five junior high schools offer pre-IB courses, preparing students for the rigor of the global high school curriculum.

Central Junior High is the home campus for the district’s award-winning Secondary Orchestra, which grew out of the Suzuki Strings program. Central will soon be home to the International Business Initiative, where seventh and eighth grade students will be able to take Hindi or Mandarin Chinese, beginning in the fall of 2007.

*Spanish Immersion classes will expand to the junior high school level to serve those students who started the program in the first grade. The graduating class of 2013 is the first class to begin the Spanish Immersion program in HEB. This class will enter junior high school in 2007. Spanish Immersion classes will be added each year through high school to accommodate the classes of 2013 and later.
