HEB ISD turns 50!

We’re Celebrating Our Birthday 1958 was an important year in American and Texas history. NASA was established, Elvis was in the Army, and the HEB ISD was born. On November 1, 1958, the Hurst-Euless District merged with the Bedford Common School District to form the HEB ISD we know today. That first school year of 1958-59, there were 3,116 students enrolled on seven campuses. This merger was the first of many bold and innovative moves by the district to provide the very best education for its children.

Today, there are more than 20,000 students in nearly 30 schools. HEB ISD is nationally recognized for academics, athletics, and fine arts. During 2008-2009, the district will celebrate 50 years of educational excellence, with special events and activities at the district and campus levels. Several schools are also celebrating. West Hurst and North Euless elementary schools opened in 1958, and Trinity High School opened in 1968. The original Pennington Field also opened in 1958.

This section of the web site will have photos and stories about the district and the many people who made it the success it is today. Help us celebrate as we turn 50 this year. We hope you will share your own special memories and tell us why you are proud to be a part of HEB ISD.
