Students Intern at NASA

Eric Dowdey of LD Bell High School and Layo Obamehinti of Trinity High School can tell some great stories about how they spent their summer. For one week, they were both interns at NASA's Johnson Space Center as NASA High School Aerospace Scholars. Only 350 high school students across Texas were selected for this program, which promotes student interest in math, science, and engineering. Both had to be nominated by members of the Texas Legislature in order to be considered for the program, and they spent 10 months working on special assignments to prepare. State Representative Vicki Truitt nominated Dowdey and State Representative Todd Smith nominated Obamehinti. Both students were recognized at the August school board meeting for their achievement.
