Students Lead Activity Center Groundbreaking Events

Students representing the many groups that will use the new high school activity centers were the first to turn the shovels at back-to-back groundbreaking events at Trinity and LD Bell high schools.

Crowds of parents, employees, community volunteers, students, and the Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD Board of Trustees celebrated the first event at Trinity High School. Board President Dr. Faye Beaulieu thanked the supporters who voted to pass the 2011 bond program. She announced that the activity centers will open in April 2013 and will protect students from the elements and keep them safe when they practice in athletics or fine arts.

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Gene Buinger selected student representatives to take the first turn at the shovels to mark the occasion. Then coaches, campus administrators, community volunteers, and more students took their turn to break ground for the new construction.

Everyone drove to LD Bell High School to repeat the celebration, with students, coaches, campus administrators, and community volunteers turning shovels on a beautiful April afternoon.
