Stonegate Adopter Honored with TAPE Crystal Award

Stonegate Elementary adopter Post Oak East Apartments was recently honored by the Texas Assocation for Partners in Education. Post Oak East won a TAPE Crystal Award in recognition of the positive academic impact made by their partnership with Stonegate.

More information from the announcement in the TAPE newsletter:

Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD and Post Oak East Apartments have a three-year successful partnership in place that strengthens family and school involvement at Stonegate Elementary School.

Though the Post Oak East apartment complex is located ten miles from the campus, more than 100 Stonegate Elementary School students are bused there to relieve overcrowding at their home campus. Because few parents living at Post Oak are able to get to the school on their own, the staff at Post Oak East Apartments made Post Oak East a "satellite" campus of the school. They provide space for parent meetings on the property, and have organized stay-at-home moms to participate in bus duty. They offer space for Stonegate teachers to provide tutoring programs, and recruited parents to help organize a Reading Library, even providing incentives to children for logging reading minutes each week. The staff personally delivers Stonegate fliers door to door to help parents stay informed about upcoming school activities and events. The property also enlarged the after school room to offer more space for student activities.

Mrs. Cynthia Richards, Post Oak East Manager, notes, "We take pride and pleasure in our partnership with Stonegate Elementary, all of our wonderful teachers, principals, counselors, and the HEB ISD. It amazes us to be part of such a strong foundation. Our motto is: 'POE Cares and it Shows and POE Readers are our Leaders.'"
