Last school year, eighth grader Dylan McDuffe won an essay contest sponsored by the Isaac Low Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas (DRT). The Hurst Junior High student's essay was titled, "Two Generals, a Battle, and a Dream for Independence." He received a signed certificate from DRT headquarters in Austin.
