Nelson Moore was the honorary captain for the coin toss at the Bell vs. Trinity game in honor of Pennington Field's 25th anniversary. As Nelson Moore walked onto the field announcer Charles Stahl said the following:

"October 16, 1987 was an exciting night for HEB ISD as L. D. Bell and Trinity faced off for their first game in the district's new Pennington Field Stadium. Under the leadership of newly named and current Stadium Director, Nelson Moore, Pennington Field has served the community as 'The Stadium for All Seasons.' Tonight as we celebrate our Silver Anniversary, we recognize Honorary Team Captain Nelson Moore as he takes the field for the coin toss."
