Earlier this fall the HEB Chamber of Commerce presented the Bill Ridgway Spirit of Enterprise Award to Dr. Gene Buinger, superintendent of schools. This award is given to an individual for their role in the economic development of the HEB community. The Chamber of Commerce selected Dr. Buinger from among many nominees for "his leadership and continuous innovation that makes HEB ISD students some of the best educated in the state, which ensures a strong workforce as well as future entrepreneurs and business leaders that will continue to make the HEB community strong." The award is named for Bill Ridgway, a long time business leader who recently retired from the City of Euless, where he was the Director of Economic Development. Ridgway presented the award to Dr. Buinger.
