Trinity Baseball Holds Brian Adams Memorial 5K and Fun Run
The Trinity High School baseball team and booster club hosted their inaugural Brian Adams Memorial Home Run Hustle 5K and Fun Run on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Bob Eden park in Euless. This was a charity event benefitting the North Texas Chapter of the American Diabetes Association. Proceeds will also establish the Brian Adams Memorial Scholarship Fund, a new college scholarship offered to seniors on the THS baseball team. Highlands Residential Mortgage stepped up as the title sponsor this year.
Brian Adams was a THS alum who passed away in 2011 due to complications from diabetes. Brian was a passionate and dedicated fan of all THS sports and could always be found at THS baseball games. THS baseball was proud to host Brian's brother and sister at the event, as well as several members of his extended family. Brian's brother Rick spoke on behalf of the family saying, "We cannot thank you enough for honoring Brian's memory and legacy in such a wonderful way." Rick also presented a $1,000 donation to THS baseball to help fund the scholarship.
The THS baseball team and coaches contributed over 70 volunteer hours preparing for and helping at the event, and the booster club members contributed over 100 more volunteer hours. The Home Run Hustle drew 240 runners from as far away as California and the country of Trinidad who got the chance to run through the THS football Trojan Tunnel. The winning runner was Brent Poulson, a professional tri-athlete from Ft. Worth, who completed the 3.1 mile course in 16 minutes and 28 seconds.
