HEB Community Welcomes New Superintendent Steve Chapman

It was standing room only in the board room of the Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD administration building at 5 p.m., February 12. Well-wishers waited for the Board of Trustees to officially appoint Steve Chapman as the new Superintendent of Schools. While the Board met in closed session for a few minutes, community members, elected officials, HEB ISD staff, retired employees and retired school board members congratulated Chapman and took pictures. The highlight came when Dr. Ron Caloss, who preceded Dr. Gene Buinger as Superintendent, posed with Buinger and Chapman for a photo to illustrate the journey of excellence in HEB ISD. After the board vote, Chapman thanked the guests and said that Dr. Caloss was the person who gave him a chance by hiring him to work in HEB ISD many years ago. The group then walked to the Pat May Center, where guests spilled out of the Blair Room into the lobby to greet Chapman with applause upon his arrival. Steve Chapman is the sixth Superintendent of Schools in the history of HEB ISD.
