Shady Oaks Elementary 4th and 6th graders participated in a video conference with author Clete Barrett Smith. Mr. Smith wrote Aliens on Vacation, a selection on the 2012-2013 Texas Bluebonnet Award Master List.

Videoconferencing from his home, Mr. Smith enjoyed answering questions and seeing the students' posters and alien and spaceship models. Mr. Smith talked about his "Aliens" book series and his writing process, and he shared titles he loved to read when he was in elementary school.

Shady Oaks Elementary sincerely thanks Mr. Smith for sharing his valuable time, and Ms. Sarpalius and Mr. Blankenship from the Instructional Technology Department for their assistance with this project.
