HEB ISD Hosts Connected Math Curriculum Carnival

The HEB ISD Math Department recently hosted a "CMP" Math Carnival. This was the culminating activity for the District's two-week CMP summer camp and included games found in the 6th, 7th and 8th grade CMP (Connected Math) curriculum used in HEB ISD. Teachers from, Birdville ISD, Northwest ISD, and Keller ISD were also present. Carnival producer Pam Vaughan said, "The purpose of the carnival was to expose the middle school teachers to some of the activities the students were exposed to in the middle school grades, and to give ideas for hosting family math nights at school." Topics included factors, multiples, integers, fractions, decimals, percents, estimation, coordinate graphing, and probability just to name a few. Teachers were able to win prizes from CMP bucks earned at the games.
