HEB ISD Recognizes Curtis Mayo and Miles Belvin!

LD Bell HS

Received Vigil Honor in the Order of the Arrow

Congratulations to Curtis Mayo, L.D. Bell High School Class of 2012, for receiving the Vigil Honor in the Order of the Arrow, the service organization of the Boy Scouts of America. The Vigil Honor is a national recognition bestowed for “exceptional service, personal effort, and unselfish interest, through leadership, exemplary efforts, or dedication.” Honorees are given a Vigil Honor name in the language of an American Indian Tribe that represents a characteristic of them. Curtis Mayo’s name is “Gunaxin Kikape Wemi Owoahan,” in English translation, “Tall, Brave, known by all.” Curtis Mayo was guided in the process of the Vigil Honor by Miles Belvin, L.D. Bell High School Class of 2011. Miles Belvin received the Vigil Honor last year, and was given the name of “Ktemaque Auwen Putawen Wschummo,” in English translation, “Beaver who plays horn.” Both young men are Eagle Scouts and members of the L.D. Bell Band, where Curtis Mayo was recently appointed a Drum Major for the 2011-2012 year.
