Supporting Bell Manor Elementary for Nearly 20 Years
For almost 20 years, Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital H-E-B has been a constant partner in the success, safety and health education of Bell Manor Elementary School's students, staff, and families.
Even before the first bell of the school year rings, Texas Health Harris Hospital HEB's Auxiliary provides school supplies for our students who are experiencing financial difficulties. With the hospital's support, all students are able to begin their year successfully.
One of the strongest messages Bell Manor instills in our students is the importance of a healthy, drug-free lifestyle. Texas Health HEB Hospital has sponsored Bell Manor's Red Ribbon Week for years with the Bell Manor Counseling Office, allowing the entire sixth grade class to utilize their leadership skills to develop and determine the theme for Red Ribbon Week. Annually, the Hospital provides over 800 red ribbons for our students and staff and offers speakers to address related issues. Further, the Hospital provided educational bookmarks to every student on our campus to ensure that the students carry the healthy, drug-free message with them during their weekly reading.
Over the years, for the Hospital's Cultural Diversity Program, Bell Manor students have been invited to sing for the hospital staff, under the direction of our music teacher. Additionally, the art show on display for the Hospital's Cultural Diversity Week is comprised of Bell Manor student artwork.
In the past, Texas Health HEB has teamed with Bell Manor's Title I Parent Involvement Committee to educate women on ways to develop a "heart healthy lifestyle"; with our school nurse on West Nile education; with our Physical Education Department on Healthy Family Fitness; and with Bell Manor's Continuous Improvement Team for Safe and Effective Schools, to host a "Summer Safety Fair" for students and families.
The Hospital also supports families in need at Christmas, and is currently working with the school on minimizing the spread of germs during flu season.
A new program the Hospital has approached the school to sponsor is a bullying prevention program. Although the details are still being finalized, we are looking forward to another potentially exciting educational program-partnership with Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital H-E-B.
Bell Manor is proud to sponsor Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital HEB for the HEBISD's Winner's Circle, and wants to especially acknowledge the generous and energetic support of Jessica Redding, Brenda Whitley, and Deborah Paganelli.
