Approximately 120 beginning Suzuki Strings Students and another 100 Elementary Orchestra Students from the HEB ISD Suzuki Strings program participated in the Winter Festival at Trinity High School. Students came from each of the ten elementary schools with Suzuki programs. They participated in workshops lead by distinguished clinicians from around the country. Participating students are learning the Violin, Viola, Cello and Bass.
Students also participated in Dalcroze activities. Dalcroze teaches musical concepts through physical activities and movement.
The festival ended with a concert in which the HEB String Orchestras performed, followed by performances of each of the instrument groups. The HEB Elementary Orchestras are made up of experienced string students from the Suzuki program. Most of the other students participating at this festival are in their first year of study playing a stringed instrument.
