| Fifth and sixth grade students at Midway Park Elementary School are using a multi-faceted approach to learning about and celebrating the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. They will present a program that is part of their social studies curriculum at 7pm, January 16, in the school auditorium. Students will sing, present choral readings, and show two PowerPoint presentations to highlight Dr. King's life, work, and legacy. The general public is encouraged to attend.
Students will sing 1950s and 1960 songs, including “Peace Train, “If I had a Hammer’, and “Free at Last.” They will also present a choral reading that highlights King's famous “I Have a Dream Speech”. A multimedia presentation will illustrate the impact that the Civil Rights movement played in shaping the history of America. |
