| School is operating on a regular schedule today. No early release is scheduled.
Our elementary school extended day programs are also operating on schedule, and many of our parents rely on that service to keep their children after school. All athletic, fine arts, professional development, staff meetings, and extracurricular activities have been canceled this afternoon and evening. Student safety is our greatest concern in HEB ISD. We have many parents who commute from Dallas and Fort Worth who would not be able to pick up their children early. To release early would mean having many children alone at home or without someone to meet them at their bus stop. Children are safest when they are in school. We understand that parents have personal concerns for their children. If parents would like to pick up their children early, they may do so. We have a system in place to make a decision about tomorrow, where the superintendent of schools and our director of transportation will meet at about 4:00 a.m., check weather and road conditions, and make a decision by 5:30 a.m. Friday. No announcements will be made if schools are to remain open and on the normal school day schedule. Announcements will only be made if there is a change in the school schedule. ### HEB - Empowering Today to Excel Tomorrow |
