| April 20 and 21 – HEB ISD annual Suzuki Strings festival, LD Bell High School. Suzuki Strings students will spend Friday evening in various workshops, practicing with guest instructors. Saturday classes will run from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The festival will conclude with a concert from 5:00 p.m. – 6:15 p.m., in the Bell High School auditorium. The concert is free and open to the public.
The Suzuki Strings program gives elementary students an "edge," as research shows that children taking music lessons improve in the areas of literacy, verbal memory, visiospatial processing, mathematics and IQ. More than 300 elementary students participate in the Suzuki Strings program, which is offered at six elementary schools in the district. Learn more about the Suzuki Strings program by clicking on the link to the new "Edge" Web site. “Teaching music is not my main purpose. I want to make good citizens. If children hear fine music from the day of their birth and learn to play it, they develop sensitivity, discipline and endurance. They get a beautiful heart.” - Shinichi Suzuki ### HEB - Empowering Today to Excel Tomorrow |
