7:00pm, November 18 - The LD Bell High School Marching Band will return to school between 7:30 - 8:00 tonight, as winners of the Bands of America (BOA) Grand Nationals championship, after having competed for several days in Indianapolis, going up against more than 90 bands.

In addition to beating 11 other finalists for the championship, they also won top awards during their semi finals round Saturday.

They won the Music Caption award during Semi Finals; General Effects award during Semi Finals; and they won the Semi Finals round.

"They took all major awards this year,leading up to and including the national championship," Mark Chandler, director of visual and performing arts, said.

Garnering top honors at BOA events has become a Bell tradition. The band was ranked second last year, third the previous year, and has ranked fourth and fifth in other years.

This year's production is TRANSCENDents, featuring the music from "Pan's Labyrinth," composed by Javier Navarrete.

The band's directors are Jeremy Earnhart, Jolette Wine, Nick Thomas, and Brandon Holt.
