Teeya Folau, a fourth grade student at South Euless Elementary School, will get a special treat Wednesday, May 8, when her grandmother, who is visiting from the Islands of Tonga, will teach Teeya's classmates how to weave hats and baskets from coconut leaves, teach the children how to dance the hula, and share stories and information about her homeland. This visit will be at 10am in Latisha Moore's class. South Euless Elementary School is located at 605 S. Main Street, Euless, 817-354-3521. The principal is Celia Mancino.

Emeline Unga will be in Euless, visiting her daughter and granddaughter, but will take time to teach Teeya's 18 classmates. Teeya recently wrote an essay about her heritage, and when she told her teacher that her grandmother would soon visit Texas, Moore asked Teeya to bring her grandmother for a special lesson and cultural exchange.

The Islands of Tonga are located in the South Pacific, east of Australia.

Visuals for this story include in-class demonstrations, interviews with Teeya Folau and her grandmother, as well as interviews with teacher Latisha Moore and principal Celia Mancino.
