Ryan Bouma (recipient) and Victoria Payne (finalist) were chosen for the Bobby Bragan Youth Foundation Scholarship Program from 83 schools across the metroplex.

Ann Shaw Elementary Scholar

AlyssaAs this year's winner, Alyssa will receive $500, the Ann Shaw Elementary Scholarship award. This summer Alyssa will travel to Austin where she will participate in Education in Action’s Lone Star Leadership Academy. She was chosen for the Academy based on her outstanding academic success, demonstrated leadership ability, and recommendations by her teachers and counselor. Alyssa also received a $100 scholarship toward LSLA based on her achievements and her school and community involvement.

Some of Alyssa's other recent achievements: President of Lakewood’s 6th Grade Class, first semester; Straight "A" Honor Roll K-6th (current); Winner of Lakewood Elementary Spelling Bee, placed 3rd in District Spelling Bee; Her comment was quoted in the Ft. Worth Star Telegram on January 19, 2006 and in Dallas Morning News 2005 as one of the child designers of the McCormick Park Preserve; Whiz Quiz competitive team member; Trophies for volleyball high scorer (1st Place Team Spring 2006), softball pitching, Ranger Rookie League Championship 2005 and numerous other sports and academic awards; One of the originators of a recycling program at Lakewood Elementary School.

A parent writes: "I would like to request that Mrs.Lombardo get recognized for her outstanding leadership as well as the genuine love she has for her students at Trinity. For the past several months, Mrs.Lombardo has not only been teaching our kids to speak a foreign language, she has taught them to understand it as well. Mrs.Lombardo has gone far beyond that extra mile of a teacher AND has planed a trip for her and her students to travel to the Country she has been teaching them about. WOW!"
