Masters Grade Level on STAAR
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) sets performance standards for the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR). Performance levels on each test are categorized under four labels:
- Masters Grade Level
- Meets Grade Level
- Approaches Grade Level
- Did Not Meet Grade Level
While TEA defines a minimum passing score, HEB ISD empowers students to achieve mastery. We work to support students as they progress toward the performance level TEA calls "masters grade level".
According to TEA, "masters grade level" means students are expected to succeed in the next grade or course with little or no academic intervention. Students in this category demonstrate the ability to think critically and apply the assessed knowledge and skills in varied contexts, both familiar and unfamiliar
Note: This data lines up with Success Measure 1.1B in HEB ISD's Strategic Plan.
