Early Numeracy - K, 1st, 2nd (1.3B)

HEB ISD Data Scorecard

Early Numeracy (Kinder, 1st, 2nd)

Early numeracy builds fundamental skills and establishes the foundation for future success in mathematical reasoning. HEB ISD monitors early numeracy progress in Kindergarten, 1st Grade, and 2nd Grade using mCLASS Math assessments from Amplify. The number of subtests administered varies by grade level.

Kindergarten students are assessed in the areas of  Counting, Number Identification, Quantity Discrimination, and Missing Number.

First grade students are assessed in the areas of Counting, Number Identification, Quantity Discrimination, Missing Number, Next Number, Number Facts, Basic Concepts,  and Mixed Concepts.

Second grade students are assessed in the areas of Quantity Discrimination, Missing Number, Number Facts, Computation, and Concepts.

The chart below represents the percentage of students at each grade level who meet or exceed early numeracy expectations.

Note: This data is aligned to Success Measure 1.3B in HEB ISD's Strategic Plan and is based on end-of-year assessments.  HEB ISD began using mCLASS Math assessments to monitor Kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade student progress during the 2020-2021 school year.
