Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD currently has 21 elementary campuses and 21 counselors.

Elementary Counseling Mission Statement:

The mission of the Elementary Counselors is to advocate for students .

Elementary Counseling Goals:

1. All Elementary Counselors will provide developmental guidance and/ or counseling to students to enhance personal, social, educational, and career development during the year.

2. All Elementary Counselors will communicate and/or coordinate information about available resources to parents throughout the year.

3. All Elementary Counselors will provide information, consultation, training, and support services to campus staff.

Elementary counselors work with students, parents, teachers and administrators to help make your child's school experience a success. Character Trait development is a large part of the counselor's job. The district's "Guiding Principles of Exceptional Character" cover respect, responsibility, honesty, compassion, courage, perseverance, self-control, commitment, initiative, cooperation. The counselors and schools work together to develop these qualities in all children to help make them good citizens. Counselors also encourage and use the philosophy of the "40 Developmental Assets". The more Assets a child develops as they grow, the more successful they become as an adult. An elementary counselor newsletter goes out monthly with information about the "Assets", character traits, parenting tips, social skills and much more. Student success depends on home and school working together to build "Good Citizens for Tomorrow".

40 Developmental Assets - Caring Begins at Home

One family decided to show an elderly widow that they cared about her by cleaning up her yard and planting flowers. The five children were so excited about the idea, they told their friends. On the day of the project, 15 kids showed up to help. The parents had to ask neighbors to help drive everyone to the woman's home. After completing the project, the young people decided to start what they called the Kids Care Club and began planning their next event. This time, 25 kids showed up. They packed bag lunches (and decorated them) for a soup kitchen. Since then, the Kids Care Club has been a model for other families, neighborhoods, communities, congregations, and schools. Junior High Counseling Mission Statement:

We, the HEBISD Junior High Counselors and chief student advocates, are here to empower our students to reach success and strive for excellence by providing students with academic and emotional support.

Junior High Counseling Goals:

1. All Junior High Counselors will provide developmental guidance and/or counseling to students to enhance personal, social, educational, and career development during the year.

2. All Junior High Counselors will communicate and/or coordinate information about available resources to parents throughout the year.

3. All Junior High Counselors will provide information, consultation, training, and support services to campus staff.

Junior High counselors work with students, parents, teachers and administrators to help make your child's school experience a success. Junior High Counselors meet with each 8th grader and their parent(s) to plan out their 4 years of high school graduation credit. We also provide personal counseling to students concerning personal, social, and emotional issues as well as provide academic guidance.

Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD currently has 2 traditional high school campuses, an alternative campus, a short and long term disciplinary campus, and a technical education center, with a district total of 12 counselors.

High School Counseling Mission Statement:

"We, the high school counselors of HEB, are here to guide students towards a successful future, help them reach their goals, and be a resource for students and parents."

High School Counseling Goals:

1. All High School Counselors will provide developmental guidance and/or counseling to students to enhance personal, social, educational, and career development during the year.

2. All High School Counselors will communicate and/or coordinate information about available resources to parents throughout the year.

3. All High School Counselors will provide information, consultation, training, and support services to campus staff.

High School counselors work with students, parents, teachers and administrators to help make your child's school experience a success. High School Counselors meet with each 10th grader and their parent(s) to revisit their 4 years of high school graduation credit that was originally planned in 8th grade and to adjust the final 2 years as needed. We provide personal one-on-one counseling to students concerning personal, social, and emotional issues as well as provide academic guidance on college entrance requirements. We also maintain student transcripts to ensure all graduation requirements are achieved.
