Attendance & Truancy

The Mission of the Hurst Euless Bedford ISD's Attendance Department is to reconnect chronically absent, truant and potentially truant students and their parents with the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District through the use of multiple positive interventions.

Compulsory Attendance Laws

Absences/Attendance
Regular school attendance is essential. Absences from class may result in serious disruption of a student’s education. The student and parent should avoid unnecessary absences.
Two important state laws—one dealing with compulsory attendance and the other with how attendance affects the award of a student’s final grade or course credit—are discussed below.

Philosophy
The philosophy of HEB ISD and the State of Texas emphasizes that regular student attendance is crucial for enhancing academic achievement and success. Developing habits of punctuality, self-discipline, and responsibility is expected from all students. It is vital to establish effective communication and cooperation between home and school. Parents and guardians are encouraged to reach out to the school if they have any questions regarding their child’s attendance or punctuality. School attendance is mandated by state law.
