HEB ISD Schools Open on Monday, February 22, 2021

We are deeply grateful for the dedication and skills of our maintenance department teams. Through their work, they have protected our schools from storm-related damage and repaired any isolated problems that occurred.

Therefore, all HEB ISD schools will be open on Monday, February 22, 2021 for both in-person (traditional) and online learning. All schools will have both electricity and water.

We hope that our schools can be a helpful part of your family’s gradual return to normalcy after last week’s challenges. However, we also understand that some of our students’ and staff members’ households will still be working to recover from major home damage or service outages. If your family is still recovering, please focus first on making sure your basic needs are met, and contact your school’s principal as soon as you are safely able to. (Employees, please contact your supervisor if you have questions about returning on Monday.)

Thank you, HEB ISD family. You have once again shown the strength and adaptability of our local community, when we work together to support each other through difficult times.

We hope you are staying warm and that services are returning to your homes and families. We know this storm has created many challenges for our HEB ISD families, the impact of which will continue to be felt in the days and weeks ahead.

Our goal is for in person and online instruction to return on Monday, February 22, 2021. We will continue to evaluate all of our district facilities and monitor water usage restrictions. Should it become necessary to make changes to instructional plans for Monday, we will communicate that information to you tomorrow.

Thank you for your continued support, patience, and understanding regarding the fluidity of this situation. Please continue to take care of yourselves and your families, and watch for additional information as we continue to assess our buildings and our plans for next week.

All Schools Closed on Tuesday, February 16, 2021

We hope this message finds you and your family safe and warm during this historic winter storm.

While we shared our plans last week to move to online learning for this week, we have changed that decision based on current conditions and in order to reduce power usage.  Therefore, due to the continued forecast for more snow/ice, unsafe road conditions, and rolling blackouts, HEB ISD will be closed Tuesday, February 16, 2021 for both in-person and online learning for students and staff.  We will continue to update parents and staff regarding future closures this week, and will provide notice daily, as soon as possible.

All extra-curricular activities and practices are cancelled for Monday, February 15 and Tuesday, February 16.  As with announcements regarding closures moving forward this week, we will also make announcements, daily, regarding extra-curricular activities and practices.

We understand there may be delays in families receiving this information due to power outages.  Therefore, we are working to notify families through School Messenger, social media, and the District website.

Thank you for your flexibility as we strive to keep everyone safe during this winter storm.  Stay safe and stay inside.
