Note: On March 11, we added additional information at the end of this post.
Dear HEB ISD Family,
It is with great sadness we inform you that Dr. June Jacoby, principal at KEYS High School, passed away at 3:00 p.m., March 10, 2016. June was a valued member of our HEB ISD family for over 46 years. She has spent most of her life working in some capacity with HEB ISD students. June began her career in 1969 as a teacher at Bell High School. After twelve years in the classroom, June was tapped for a new role - counselor at Trinity High School - where she worked addressing the academic, social, and emotional needs of students from 1981 – 1986. She expanded her counseling role and served as the vocational counselor at the Career Center from 1986-1987. June was instrumental in the program design for KEYS Learning Center and served as its first counselor from 1987-1990. She would later serve as the principal of KEYS High School from 2006-2016. June's administrative career included directing the District's Student Assistance Program and time as an assistant principal at Bedford Jr. High and principal at Central Junior High from 1993-2006.
June's 46 years of dedication to the students of HEB ISD have left an indelible mark on the lives of so many students and staff. She had a passion for education, a passion for students, and a passion for colleagues and friends. While her time here has drawn to a close, her impact will continue to live on in the lives of students and staff. Dr. June Jacoby will be greatly missed by the district and the HEB community.
Please keep June's family in your thoughts and prayers. We will share the details regarding her Celebration of Life when they become available.
Steve A. Chapman
Superintendent of Schools
