Limited Open Enrollment

Limited Open Enrollment allows families who live outside HEB ISD boundaries to apply to attend certain campuses only when space is available. 

HEB ISD continues to earn strong academic ratings through a consistent focus on effective instruction, accountability, and student outcomes. Our campuses demonstrate high performance across state measures, reflecting the work of dedicated staff and engaged families. Limited Open Enrollment is an expansion of our existing out of district transfer process.

How the Application Process Works
Families interested in Limited Open Enrollment must complete an application and select one campus preference.

1. Apply
   Beginning January 22, 2026, families may submit the Limited Open Enrollment application through the district’s online form.
   • If you wish to apply for a Schools of Choice program, please also complete the 2026-27 Elementary Schools of Choice Application (Kindergarten-6th grades) or 2026-27 Secondary Transfer & Schools of Choice Application (7th-12th grades). 2. Review
   District administration will review applications to determine whether space is available at the requested campus and grade level. As with our current transfer process, discipline, attendance, and academic data will be reviewed.
3. Capacity Check
   • If space is available, the application will proceed through the review process.
   • If space is not available, families will be contacted and asked whether they would like to be considered for another campus with capacity.
4. Notification
   All applicants will receive a final decision by email no later than May 18, 2026. 

• Applications open: January 22, 2026
• Applications close: March 13, 2026, at 4:00 PM
• Final decisions emailed no later than: May 18, 2026

After March 13, applications will no longer be available online but may still be shared directly through the office of Elementary or Secondary Administration if capacity allows.

If your student will be in pre-kindergarten through 6th grade, contact our office of Elementary Administration at 817-399-2032. If your student will be in 7th grade through 12th grade, contact our office of Secondary Administration at 817-399-2062.
