Safety Protocols for HEB ISD Summer Programs

Note: this letter is also being emailed to all HEB ISD parents / guardians.

Update: on June 15, the Return to Learn 2021-2022 Plan was posted, with additional information for future planning.

To All HEB ISD Parents & Families:

This message includes information about safety protocols for summer programs in HEB ISD.

As announced earlier this week, masks are optional for HEB ISD students, staff, and visitors effective Friday, May 28, 2021. This change includes HEB ISD summer programs.

For our summer programs, we will continue to put an emphasis on proper hygiene decisions and ask our students and staff to remain home when sick. We will continue to clean throughout the schools, with extra focus on doorknobs, handrails, and other frequently-used surfaces. We will track lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and notify potential close contacts as soon as possible; quarantining will be optional for student close contacts.

If your student experiences symptoms of COVID-19 or tests positive for COVID-19, please do not send them to their summer program. Instead, contact the Campus Nurse and/or Administrator, and directions will be provided for when your child is able to return to campus.

Major symptoms of COVID-19: (1 symptom)

  • Fever (100 or higher) and/ or chills
  • Persistent Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • New loss of taste or smell

Minor symptom of COVID-19:  (2 symptoms)

  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Diarrhea/nausea/vomiting
  • Sudden onset or persistent headache

Seek immediate or emergency care if these symptoms occur: difficulty breathing; chest pressure or pain; new confusion; inability to stay awake; pale, gray, or blue-colored skin, lips, or nail beds.

HEB ISD will share our 2021-2022 Return to Learn plan in its entirety later this summer.
