(This message is also being emailed to all parents & families)
Our calendar committee, which includes staff, parents, and community members, has put forward two calendar options for the 2023-2024 school year. These options comply with applicable laws (for example, how much instructional time students must receive each year) and aim to respect the most common requests our community and staff have shared with us recently and in past years.
The calendar options are similar: both have the first day of school on August 10, 2023 and last day of school on May 23, 2024. This allows us to split the fall and spring semesters with winter break. Both calendar options have similar holidays throughout the school year. This includes no school on November 1 (day after Halloween), March 29 (Good Friday) and an entire week off of school for Thanksgiving and Spring Break. Early dismissal days are also the same, including early dismissal for all students on October 31, February 16, and the last days of the fall and spring semesters. Graduation dates are determined years in advance due to the district’s contract with the graduation facility.
The main difference is winter break:
- Calendar Draft A has the last day of the fall semester on December 15, 2023. Students would return from winter break on January 4, 2024. View Calendar Draft A.
- Calendar Draft B has the last day of the fall semester on December 20, 2023. Students would return from winter break on January 9, 2024. View Calendar Draft B.
We’ve attached both draft calendars to this message. Please use this online form to let us know which option works best for you and your family:
