Updates to HEB ISD Safety Protocols (May 25, 2021)
Note: This message was also emailed to all parents on May 25, 2021.
To Our HEB ISD Family:
In a school year we will never forget, we upheld HEB ISD’s reputation as a community that works together to support educational success. When the “rules of the game” seemed to change every day, we adapted together.
In response to the Governor’s Executive Order dated May 18, 2021, HEB ISD will make the wearing of masks optional for students, staff, and visitors effective Friday, May 28, 2021. We will also be lifting the mask mandate for all outdoor activities immediately.
Return to Learn protocols not impacted by this new order will continue at this time. We will continue to put an emphasis on proper hygiene decisions and asking our students and staff to remain home when sick. We will continue to follow social distancing protocols as much as possible. We will continue to track lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and notify potential close contacts as soon as possible.
We recognize that each family’s situation is unique, and parents’ wishes for their students will vary. We encourage families to have a discussion with your student about your expectations related to masks or face coverings.
