Letter from Steve Chapman, Superintendent of Schools

Dear HEB ISD Family,

We are all shocked and devastated about the events that took place at Timberview High School this morning. Our hearts are heavy for the students, employees, and parents of Mansfield ISD.  Many of you have friends and family who are associated with Mansfield ISD and the City of Arlington and this may hit very close to home.

Safety and security is the top priority for every school district. Rest assured, HEB ISD administration continues to keep the safety of our students and staff a top priority.

We may have students and families struggling with news of this incident. As always, we want to be supportive of any emotional needs that may arise. Should your student express concern, please feel free to reach out for assistance and support in one of the following ways:

1. Contact the campus school counselor.  Some campuses also have a Communities in Schools (CIS) Program Manager who may be available to assist, if needed.

2. Contact a member of the HEB Crisis Intervention and Prevention team by clicking the link:  https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf-1xU_YtQX2eGlRYS8PKqOJXVGzM8IE1qxVD3KjarNKOyuYQ/viewform

If the campus is made aware that your student is struggling in dealing with this incident, the staff wants to help.  Often, when the events happen outside the immediate circle of the campus, the staff is not aware that students are having a difficulty unless someone shares these concerns.  Please do not hesitate to notify campus staff  if your student needs help.

Please keep the Timberview community in your thoughts, prayers, and hearts.

Steven A. Chapman
Superintendent
