Letter from Superintendent Steve Chapman - December 14, 2021

December 14, 2021

Dear HEB ISD Parents,

I want to share with you that I will be retiring at the end of this school year. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve the students and parents of this wonderful school district for the past thirty-two years. During my three decades in the district, I have had the opportunity to work with students and families in a variety of capacities from classroom teacher to superintendent of schools. Each step in my HEB ISD journey allowed me the opportunity see the talent, creativity, and curiosity that children bring to the educational process. When students are given the necessary tools and support, the possibilities for how high they can soar are limitless. A quality education is truly the key to each student’s future!

While my time in HEB ISD is coming to an end, I’m excited about the future of our district. No doubt there are challenges that lie ahead, but these challenges also bring new opportunities, and new leadership brings fresh ideas, renewed energy, and a reinvigorating of the system. The future of HEB ISD is bright, and the best is yet to come for our students!

While I may be moving from a full-time position as an educator, I will continue to be a champion and cheerleader for our HEB ISD students and the transformational work of our Texas public schools.

Wishing you and your family a happy holiday season,

Steven A. Chapman
HEB ISD Superintendent of Schools
