Letter to Parents & Families - January 14, 2022

Note: This message is also being emailed to parents & families on January 14, 2022.

To All HEB ISD Parents & Families:

As other school districts announce school closures, I feel it’s important to give you a direct update based on HEB ISD’s current data.

Our district’s Executive Leadership Team is monitoring HEB ISD’s COVID-19 data on a daily basis. Like all school districts, we are experiencing a very high number of student and staff absences during this surge in COVID cases. The number of students and staff in HEB ISD who have tested positive for COVID-19 is higher than it has been at any point during the pandemic.

We recognize the heroic effort of our teachers and staff members, and we know that when someone on our team must be absent, coworkers are stepping up in remarkable ways to fill the gap. We are making adjustments to deploy central office staff to fill in for campus staff absences. We also appreciate your on-going efforts to be cautious and to get your students tested for COVID-19 when needed.

At this time, our staff absences have not reached the point of necessitating closures. However, we are monitoring HEB ISD’s data daily and preparing plans in case that situation changes. If closures become necessary, we are committed to communicating that information to you as soon as possible.

Thank you for your continued cooperation and support for the well-being of all HEB ISD students and families.

Steve Chapman
