Letter from Katie Harrell, 2020-2021 Bedford Heights Principal
April 14, 2020
Dear Bedford Heights Parents,
It is with great pride and excitement that I write this letter of introduction to you as the newly named Principal of Bedford Heights Elementary. I am honored to have the opportunity to lead a school with such a rich tradition that has produced so many outstanding students. Bedford Heights has enjoyed tremendous success; all of which are not by accident. It is through hard work, dedication, passion, trust, and open lines of communication from all stakeholders that these successes exist. I am humbled and most appreciative of the opportunity presented to me to become a member of this community.
I have been dedicated to the field of education for 16 years. During these past 16 years, I have had the opportunity to teach multiple grade levels. I spent two years in South Florida where I taught Kindergarten and third grade. I then transitioned to HEB ISD and taught fifth grade at Donna Park Elementary for six years. My leadership career started in 2012 as an Assistant Principal of West Hurst Elementary. I have spent the last four years serving as Principal of Harrison Lane Elementary. I am elated to bring my skills as an educational leader to Bedford Heights Elementary and to work with you as a partner in education to ensure success for all students.
I am committed to working hard to continue the legacy of success at Bedford Heights by building strong relationships with all stakeholders. I believe that great schools are the result of great teachers and families, so my objective is to ensure that each student is receiving high-quality instruction all around. We will continue to do this through collaboration, professional development, open communication, and continuous improvement. Student success is my number one priority and I am committed to making all decisions with this being in the forefront.
I am blessed to share with you with you that my husband Ray and I live in the Hurst area and have two children, Alyson (8) and Avery (5). We enjoy immersing ourselves as a family into any school I enter and we look forward to becoming members of the BHE culture. In our downtime as a family, we enjoy playing outside, riding bikes, working out, and just being a family.
I look forward to meeting and seeing you all soon. Please do not hesitate to reach me at email@example.com.
Let us begin our journey to success,
